Sewanee houses 98% of its undergraduates, its own Common Data Set figure, because the residency requirement runs all four years. Rising seniors who want to move off campus must apply for an exemption, usually opening in early March — so off-campus renting here is a small, permission-based minority, not a default.

Where students live

The rare exceptions rent scattered houses in Sewanee village, Monteagle (~6 mi), or down the mountain in Winchester and Cowan.

There is no student apartment market on the Domain — no complexes to list. If you're one of the few exempt students (married, older, or local), rentals are found through word of mouth and small local listings, and they're almost always unfurnished houses. The unfurnished checklist below is the one you want.
