Bed size: Gonzaga publishes a 78 in mattress, two inches shorter than the Twin XL standard, on its loft-kit page: mattress size, Twin XL, 78 in or 6 ft 6 in long. It publishes no width — the numbers on its furniture page are inside images. Gonzaga also contradicts itself on who needs what. The housing help centre says all beds require extra long twin sheets, while the move-in list tells third and fourth year students to buy Full size sheets.

What Gonzaga housing actually costs
Heads up — this school breaks the usual rules
- Gonzaga publishes its Twin XL as 78 inches long, not 80 — stated twice in the same line, as 78" and 6'6". Every Twin XL sheet sold at retail is cut for 80". The width is published nowhere except an image file.
- Upper-division students are told to buy FULL sheets. The official packing list says "Full Size Sheets (Upper Division: 3rd & 4th Year)" while two other Gonzaga pages insist "all beds require extra long twin size sheets." Kennedy Apartments settles it: floors 4 and 5 are Full.
- Kennedy floors 2 and 3 advertise "two Twin XL beds to make California King" — which is geometrically impossible. Two Twin XL side by side is 76" x 80", a standard King. A California King is 72" x 84". Buy King sheets, or two Twin XL sets.
- The refrigerator cap is 0.5 amps — about 60 watts. No 4 cubic foot fridge on the market draws that little, yet the packing list explicitly invites a 4 cu ft fridge. Gonzaga's two rules cannot both be satisfied.
- Ring cameras and all personal video cameras are banned, alongside slow cookers, torches, liquid oxygen containers and engine parts. Wax melters, unusually, are explicitly allowed as a candle substitute.
- Personal air conditioners are banned, and Gonzaga never says which halls have AC. Not one hall page lists air conditioning either way. Fans are on the official packing list; that is the tell.
- The residency page and the exemption form publish different exemption lists. The policy page offers six exceptions including age 21 and disability; the actual form offers four, and neither of those two is among them.
- Breaking housing costs "up to and including the entire upcoming year's rent" — but the residency page itself publishes no penalty at all for simply not complying.
Buying the standard college checklist here will waste money — check your year and your building before you buy sheets.

Fridge & microwave rules
No fridge or microwave is supplied in traditional or suite rooms — each building has a shared full kitchen instead. The apartment-style buildings (Kennedy, Burch, Corkery, Sharp) have full kitchens with fridge and stove. Personal fridges are permitted but the two published rules contradict each other: the packing list invites one "max 4 cubic feet," while the policy caps draw at 0.5 amps, about 60 watts. Essentially no 4 cu ft fridge on the market meets that, so the appliance Gonzaga explicitly invites cannot satisfy Gonzaga's own electrical rule. Microwaves are allowed with no wattage limit published at all.
What you cannot bring
Barbecue grills, candles, potpourri burners, incense, sterno cans, fire pits, gasoline, butane, charcoal and propane containers, gas camping equipment, engines and engine parts, liquid oxygen containers, torches, chemical compounds, open-coil burners, space heaters, halogen lamps, and personal video cameras including Ring. The packing list adds slow cookers, hot plates, griddles, camping stoves, firearms, portable AC units, pets and large furniture. Unusually, wax melters and essential-oil diffusers are explicitly allowed as candle substitutes. Fish in tanks up to 10 gallons are the only animals; an unauthorised pet carries a $500 fine.
Who has to live on campus
Four full semesters, summers excluded — effectively the first two years. The two published exemption lists do not match: the residency page offers six exceptions including being 21 by October and having a disability the university cannot accommodate, while the actual exemption form offers only four, and neither of those two is among them. The form's categories are living with a parent or guardian within 20 miles, marriage or a legal dependent, having previously lived on campus at another institution, and seminary enrolment. No exemption deadline is published anywhere, which is a significant omission for a mandatory process. The residency page publishes no penalty for non-compliance either; the only financial language sits on the cancellation page, which warns of penalties "up to and including the entire upcoming year's rent."
